Why Do We Make and Enjoy Art?
Art is all around us, and has been there since prehistoric times. People paint, draw, sculpt, dance, write, and perform music and plays. People enjoy doing artistic things. And, they also enjoy looking at, watching, and experiencing art,
but nobody really knows why.

About
Painter/Illustrator Mary Brandt
Originally from Granite City, Illinois and a graduate of the Lindenwood College Fine Art’s Program, Mary started drawing at an early age.
She draws her inspiration from the human experience. Seeking to illuminate the humanity that lies just below the surface, Mary casts her subjects – people, animals, architecture, and natural spaces – as travelers navigating a complex, modern world. She tries to find an emotional touchstone and share this through her works.
